Bauman Lyons Architects are leading on design and implementation of Keighley Creative Hub, a £3m refurbishment project of a former department store in the heart of the town centre.
East Street Arts is acting as the client for the capital phase of the project, which will provide long-term affordable workspace and engagement space for artists and creatives delivered by local organisation, Keighley Creative. There will also be dedicated space for complimentary courses delivered by Keighley College.
Keighley Creative Hub will open Spring 2026, becoming one of Bradford UK City of Culture 2025’s legacy projects, stimulating ongoing cultural and creative activity in the town for many years to come. Over time, it will contribute to Keighley building a reputation as a cultural destination and as a place for artists and creatives to live and work.
The project responds to the need to diversify uses in the town centre and the potential to build a highly visible cluster of creative industry practitioners as a catalyst for town centre renewal and growth of the local sector.
Keighley Creative will also deliver outreach programmes across the surrounding area from the building, widening opportunities for people in Keighley to share, express and realise their creative and cultural aspirations.
The project has been supported by UK Government Funding through Towns Fund and Community Ownership Fund as well as by Bradford Council through its BD25 capital fund.
