Museum of Making wins Future Cities Forum Winter Award 2022

It is a lovely Christmas treat to see that Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill has won another award. Our collaborative project with Derby Museums and Integrated Project Team partners – Creative Core, Derry Building Services, GCA Consulting, Speller Metcalfe, IPInitiatives – has been named as the winner of the Cultural Cities category of the Future Cities Forum Winter Awards 2022. It’s a great reflection on the project and efforts of the whole team that it continues to be acknowledged in awards.

‘The Museum of Making really stood out for me. It’s beautiful, and the long term relationship that the designers had with the organisation has been important. The diversity of activities and age range of people using the space make this a stand-out project.’
Helen Taylor, Director of Practice, Scott Brownrigg, Awards Judge

This award follows the project being shortlisted earlier this year for Art Fund Museum of the Year 2022 and last year’s successes in winning the Conservation & Regeneration Award at the National Constructing Excellence Awards and the Building Awards Refurbishment Project of the Year.
